C. Surfaces
1. Different surfaces
The selection of the surface determines the subsequent development of the jewelry piece. Every surface changes. Matt surfaces become more polished over time, polished surfaces receive fine wear marks. Jewelry from Niessing is generally semi-matt because this surface makes the color of the gold or platinum shine the most beautifully. For rings, Niessing offers various surface treatments – depending on the model: polished, silk matt, fine matt, fleece matt, outside matt / inside polished, as well as hammer finish, a very vigorous, durable surface.
2. Surface changes
Gold and platinum are relatively soft metals. Their surface is subject to a wear process. It begins during the first wearing. Polished surfaces become more matt. Matt surfaces exhibit increasing glossiness. Most metals and ceramic objects are harder than gold and platinum, meaning that precious metals rub off against them.
Please note: No metal is so hard that it will not show wear marks.
3. Care tips
Light dirt should be removed regularly with a soft cloth or carefully by hand under hot running water with some soap. Dry the jewelry carefully. That is important.
Regular inspection by trained experts offers you additional security. For this, you can send your jewelry to our workshop or the nearest Niessing store, where we will inspect and clean it professionally.
